Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, 4/1

This week there were little cookies, grapes, watermelon slices, baby carrots, sliced cucumbers, and maybe pita and hummus and or cheese and crackers. Something was on that empty plate at one point!

Chicago Gallery Snack Report (3/18/11 - 3/26/11)

So we spent the night talking to Nick about the food, to Tony about his upcoming play (Station Lost, at the Steppenwolf this summer), and talked curatorial theory with some employees of a certain Chicago contemporary art museum. And every few minutes Tony would order me to go eat more food, which I dutifully did until I was quite stuffed. Tony joked earlier that he is "the heavyweight champ of snacks," and I think it's safe to say he's earned it.
by Jeriah HildwinePhotos by  Stephanie Burke The following are where we went these past two weekends.  Check out the slideshow for details on the snacks!  (A couple of galleries on this list aren’t in the slideshow either because they had no snacks, or we didn’t have any, or we forgot to take a picture, or... Chicago Gallery Snack Report: March 3rd through March 13th

Co-Prosperity Sphere featured bottles of Miller High Life, and curators Linda Dorman and Tom Torluemke brought an assortment of pies, cakes, and brownies. Stephanie thought the cake was too sweet; she should have known better: you don't expect subtlety from something that bright pink! I found the apple pie more to my taste. After enjoying our beers and desserts, we ended up buying a small Billy Pozzo sculpture, which looks like the top half of a submerged zombie's head, who now lives in a bowl in our living room. Thanks guys!

Chicago Gallery Snack Report: 2/11/2011 & 2/12/2011

Saturday we headed over to Swimming Pool Project Space, for "Breaking Up With Chicago," the goodbye party for their Albany Park Space. They had beer, wine (red and sparkling white), and a great assortment of cheeses, crackers, and fruit. My favorite combination was a spread, I think it was blueberry-jalapeno, with a cheese that might have been gouda, on a cracker. There were also some little crackers that were just full of spices, several other cheeses, grapes, and blueberries. We drank red wine into which I kept slipping fruit like roofies. We ended up buying a Liz Nielsen print ("Driving"). Thanks for all the snacks, ladies! Best of luck in your upcoming adventures!
by Jeriah Hildwine photos by Stephanie Burke This week Stephanie and I saw an artist/curator’s lecture, drank some beer, went to a pizza party, drank some whiskey and cokes, went to a sex party, drank some more beer, bought some art, said good-bye to some friends, drank some more beer, ate some snacks, and bought... Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, February 4 & Saturday, February 5

by Jeriah Hildwinephotos by Stephanie Burke This weekend was a pretty quiet one, but we did venture out to Fill in the Blank and LVLIII, for art, hanging with our homies, a couple of drinks, and to get our snack on. On Friday night, we didn’t have to go too far.  It’s a short walk... Read more »

Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, January 21, 2011

The galvanized bucket o' beer sat in the gallery's small kitchen. We arrived midway through the reception, the place was packed, but there was still a healthy supply of Miller High Life, as well as some cans of La Croix mineral water or something. Around closing time some guys came in with a case of Ice House and added it to the tub. I had one or two High Lifes and one of the Ice Houses the gentlemen brought by, and then it was off to bed. This was the last opening at Swimming Pool's current space. Look for one upcoming exhibition in a West Loop space, currently Liz Nielsen's studio, before she and Carolina Wheat pull up stakes for New York. Best of luck, ladies!
