It's 12:34 on Friday morning, and Stephanie left her purse at a party, so while she's going back to pick it up, I'm posting this week's edition of WTFAYG for her. If it's a little rough around the edges, that's why. A quick Google image search for "Where are you going?" yielded the above image. Why hasn't she used it before? It's perfect! And so inspirational! In an eerie coincidence it also looks exactly like the opening scene of Laserblast, which I'm watching (in it's MST3K version) on Netflix in another browser window right now. But where, you might ask, are we going?
OK, so where are we going this weekend? Well, it's pretty easy: as is
often the case, we're going to a couple shows run by good friends of
ours. Friday the lovely and talented Lauren Levato has an opening at
Firecat Projects, run by The Heavyweight Champ of Snacks Himself, Tony
Fitzpatrick. Saturday there is an event at Fill In The Blank, a gallery
run by a group of kick-ass ladies right in Lincoln Square, a short
drunken stagger from our front door.
Firecat Projects - 2124 N. Damen. Lantern Fly Sex Cure, work by Lauren Levato. Reception 7-10pm.
Lincoln Square -
Fill in the Blank Gallery - 5038 N. Lincoln Ave. 1980 Records presents:
Experimental Artist Series #6. Event begins at 7pm. $3 suggested
And a special shoutout here for our friend Ken Saunders, who has whipped up some amazing cocktails and shows some really mind-blowing studio glass art. Stephen Powell's exhibition opens Friday, June 24th (tomorrow, or really technically tonight) from 5pm to 7pm. Saturday, June 25th is an artist's talk and brunch, from 11am to 2pm. If you can't make either of these, Ken's going to be making dirty martinis during First Thursdays on July 7th, from 5pm to 7pm, which is also a great time to see any of the other River North shows you haven't seen yet. We're going to try to make it to at least one of these events.
