In a fortuitous coincidence, my friend and colleague Renee Prisble Una was having an exhibition at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, with its opening reception falling during the weekend that I happened to be in that city visiting old friends! CIIS is apparently some kind of Buddhist religious school, and Renee has been exploring Buddhist themes in her work lately, so it was a natural place for her to show.
While we were there, I ran into an old classmate of mine from undergrad, Kelly Allen. She's apparently still painting, and is represented by Michael Rosenthal gallery in San Francisco. Rosental also represents Jillian Mcdonald, whom I met at ThreeWalls during her artist's talk for her residency there, and Amy Casey, represented in Chicago by Zg Gallery. So, if you're playing Six Degrees of the Chicago Art Scene...there you go.
Check out the slide show for some images from the show. There were even snacks!
