After five days of focusing on pitchers and catchers, the full White Sox squad reports to Camelback Ranch tomorrow as the full journey begins.
There will be the traditional first-day meeting with GM Rick Hahn and manager Robin Ventura, the first in a series of live batting and drills focused on making the Sox a more fundamentally sound team and getting into the best physical shape possible.
The games, where a good amount of the decision-making will be made, won't begin until a week from today as the Sox and Dodgers, the dual inhabitants of CR, face each other to inaugurate the spring season.
To celebrate the fifth year of the Sox and Dodgers being in Glendale, both clubs will welcome players from the past next weekend for their respective home openers.
On Saturday, with the Dodgers being designated the home team, former stars Ron Cey, Manny Mota, Tim Leary, Fernando Valenzuela, Maury Wills and Steve Yeager will be introduced and will sign autographs. On Sunday, with the Sox the home team, the South Siders will do likewise with Floyd Bannister, Jerry Hairston, Ron Karkovice, Ron Kittle, Rudy Law and Steve Stone.
