White Sox fan and Oscar nominee Michael Clarke Duncan dies at 54

With most Chicago-born celebrities partial to the team on the North Side, we are proud that Academy Award nominee Michael Clarke Duncan was one of us--a Sox fan born and raised on the South Side.

The 6-5, 300-pound Duncan, who received the nomination for the 1999 prison drama, "The Green Mile," died today at 54. He was also the narrator for the 2005 World Series video featuring his favorite team.

Sox GM Kenny Williams, a friend of Duncan's, said the following in a statement:

"Michael was a close friend. He was the nicest, kindest guy anyone could ever know. He was a great fan of the Chicago White Sox and often called me to offer advice. His friendship will be missed."
