Kenny Williams, take a bow.
The four key aquisitions you made this summer carried the White Sox to an impressive 7-3 victory over the Yankees tonight at the Cell on the heels of last night's 9-6 triumph. The win assured the Sox of both the home series and season series advantage.
In order of their arrivals in Chicago, here are tonight's heroes:
Kevin Youkilis: His fifth inning grand slam gave the Sox a 6-2 lead and they never looked back.
Brett Myers: He came on in the ninth and recorded the save, ending the game by getting the red-hot Derek Jeter to pop out to right with a man on base.
Francisco Liriano: The lefty struggled at the outset by surrendering a homer to Jeter on the first pitch of the game, but he settled down and got credit for the win. He gave up only two runs and six hits in his six innings of work and recorded seven strikeouts.
Dewayne Wise: Replacing the injured Alejandro De Aza in center, Wise is undoubtedly making the Yankees regret they designated him for assignment. Wise went 4 for 5 with a run scored after he went 2 for 5 with a homer and a pair of RBIs last night against his former mates.
Sox Note of Note: The Sox maintain their two-game lead over the Tigers, who defeated the Blue Jays.
