July Fitness Challenge

July Fitness Challenge
Today is the last day of June, and people around the world are finishing up their 30 Day Ab Challange. I know that I am in shock that I managed to complete it, especially considering that today was 125 Situps, 200 Crunches, 65 Leg Raises, and a 120 second Plank. Fortunately, finish it I did.... Chicago Gay Pride Parade Gallery

More than a million people lined the streets of Boystown and UpTown today to celebrate Chicago’s Pride Parade. I was there with camera in hand celebrating the first parade since Illinois made same-sex marriage legal. I want to share just a few random photos with everyone, and I hope you enjoy. If you see yourself,... Read more »

Should festivals quit handing out admission stickers?

Should festivals quit handing out admission stickers?
Festival season is in full swing, and I could not be happier. From the festivals that have already happened, to all the ones yet to come, I will admit that I am becoming a Chicago festival junkie. As anybody that has been to one of the many festivals in our City, you know that they... Read more »

Cheat Days: Why I hate them, and you should too

Cheat Days: Why I hate them, and you should too
So many times when people try to live a healthier lifestyle, they implement days they call “Cheat Day”. I am sure everybody has heard of them, but, to be honest, they drive me insane. Basically, a Cheat Day is for people that are trying to live a healthy life, yet they tell themselves that one... Read more »

Did you know that insects and their larvae are acceptable in your food. Peanut Butter and Chocolate can contain 30 or more insect fragments per 100 grams of product. Wheat flour - 150 or more insect fragments per 100 grams. Shredded carrots can contain 800 or more per 10 grams.

Additionally, insects abdomens are what makes natural red #4 on ingredient lists.

The key to weight loss: Mental Health

While on my Fat to Fit journey, I have learned so much about nutrition, exercise, and just basic life in general. However, the thing I did not realize I would learn so much about is mental health. As the weight starts coming off, one’s entire way of thinking changes. No longer do Oreos actually look... Read more »

Fat to Fit: Gross things you are probably eating

You may have heard of Silicon Dioxide, but did you know it is actually sand. It can be found in Wendy's chili, a variety of coffee creamers, and several varieties of canned soups.
We are all well aware that there are many things on our grocery store shelves that are not really meant for human consumption; however, do we know what those things really are? Today, I’m devoting my blog to things you are eating that you are probably unaware of. Once you go through the gallery, be... Read more »

Donald Trump's sign is not top news!

Donald Trump's sign is not top news!
I want to go on the record as saying that I do not believe that news outlets should avoid soft news. I love it when ABC 7 Chicago goes out and covers heartwarming stories. I even love it when the Chicago Tribune talks about a local kid that makes it in the great big scary... Read more »
