Will new General Assembly advance Marriage Equality in Illinois?

After the disappointment of last week's failed attempt of getting Gay Marriage legalized in the State of Illinois, legislatures are vowing to try again today.

Senator Heather Steans and Representative Greg Harris have both stated that they will introduce the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act into their respective chambers immediately following the swearing in the of the 98th General Assembly.

Hopes are high for the passing of the Act as just last week the Senate Executive Committee approved the Act in a vote of 8-5. Unfortunately, the approval happened too late, and there was not enough time to get the measure passed before the previous Assembly ended.

I will update this post throughout the date with the latest news on the fate of the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act.

Come on Illinois! The time is now!
