If you are out in the Northwest Burbs of Chicago and find yourself hungry, you should make a mad dash to 105 Hollywood Boulevard in South Barrington. It is there that you will find declious food and a great atmosphere at The Lucky Monk.
I had a friend take my partner and I there, and while I was not expecting much with a name like that, I must say that I was plesantly surprised. The ambiance of The Lucky Monk is very soothing. From the moment you take your seat, you just get a feeling that you are gathering around for a relaxing evening with friends.
The staff is also exceptionally friendly. Our server, Stacey, was absolutely a joy. She joked around with us, explained items on the menu to us, and just made an enjoyable evening that much more so. This is restaurant that when I return, I will be sure to ask for the same server again.
Of course, regardless of how great the atmosphere and staff is, it is the food that makes a restaurant worth a return trip, and The Lucky Monk did not disappoint.
Our appetizer for the evening was the Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Though I normally think restaurants fall flat when trying to reproduce cheese curds, The Lucky Monk did so with perfection.
After the appetizer, we set forth on our main meal. Though the menu is filled with pizzas, seafood, and many more delicious items, we had decided that our evening meal would be burgers. I had the Peppercorn Ranch Burger, and it was delicious. Though I can only personally attest to how my dinner was, the other two at the table said their meal was just as good.
Each of our burgers were juicy and cooked just the way we specified. The buns were fresh and warm, and the burger toppings were crisp. Even the fries and onion rings that were served on our plates were cooked correctly. It is my experience that many places tend to overcook fried foods.
So, the next time you want a great night out, head over to The Lucky Monk. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, and conviently located right off of I-90. What more could you ask for?
