7th Heaven is Pure Bliss

7th Heaven is Pure Bliss

If you are from the Chicagoland area, you probably know Richie Hofherr, Nick Cox, Keith Semple, Michael Mooshey, and Mark Kenneth by name. Of course, if you do not, you may know them by their band name 7th Heaven. This local band has charted on Billboard, has a single on world-wide radio, and has been featured on ABC, NBC, Fox, and, of course, WGN.

Can you imagine a band with all that exposure, yet I had never seen them perform? Fortunately, that all changed last night when they played at Sounds of Summer in Palatine.

Let me tell you that this band is freaking awesome. Kyle and I had the best time sitting on our picnic blanket getting lost in music. Though the temperature was hot, the sounds on stage were even hotter. Whether the band was singing an original or doing a cover, they were on beat and fabulous.

Now if you have ever seen them in concert, you know that they are pretty well known for their 30 Songs in 30 Minutes. Every time someone has told me I was loser for not seeing them perform yet, 30 in 30 was what they immediately talked about. If you have never heard of the 30 in 30, let me tell you to be prepared to be amazed. The band literally plays non-stop for 30 minutes. All 30 of the songs performed in the 30 minutes window are previous hits by other artists, yet 7th Heaven manages to merge them and make them their own.

After 30 in 30, the best part of the evening for me was listening to the band perform We Are Young by fun. Though Keith, the lead singer, said they had "literally" just learned the song earlier in the day, they hit a home run with it. Everybody on the lawn was getting lost as the band played on about setting the world on fire.

So, I must say that I am now a 7th Heaven fan, and I look forward to seeing them perform again. Of course, if you want to see them perform, whether for the first time or the 100th time, you can do so on almost any given night. The band has an extensive schedule through the rest of the year.

Just in the next few days, they are performing at a variety of places. Here's a short list:
