I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I had my first Christmas being a Chicagoland resident; however, Kyle and I did not spend our Christmas in Chicagoland, we spent it in Lincoln, Illinois with his family.
Regardless though of where it was spent, this was one of my best Christmases ever. I had so much fun.
It all started last Thursday when we had a Christmas Party for work. We played games, ate, opened presents, exchanged cookies, etc. It was one of the most relaxed office Christmas parties ever.
After that, Friday was fabulous. It was a laid back day of relaxing and getting caught up for the Holidays.
Saturday morning, Jen came over. Kyle, Jen, and I opened presents together. Then, I made us all a big breakfast.
Saturday evening was spent lounging around relaxing. Kyle cooked a huge dinner on Christmas Eve Evening. He actually had to cook it twice because of some issues with the timing of the meat being done.
Christmas morning, Kyle and I got up and drove to Lincoln. We spent the trip down calling all of our friends and family wishing them a Merry Christmas. It made the trip to Kyle's Family super fast.
Of course, once we arrived, we had a blast hanging with Kyle's family. The cousin that hosts is absolutely hilarious. This was my second time being a guest in their home, and they are always so welcoming.
We then spent some time over at Kyle's Uncle's house. Last year at Thanksgiving, we helped this uncle decorate. Unfortunately, we did not get to this year; however, at least we got to spend some time with him and his girlfriend.
On our way back to Chicagoland, we kidnapped Kyle's cousin and brought him up here with us for a few days. Also while driving back, we caught up to Kyle's mom on I-55. We followed her all the way home. It was sort of a trip down memory lane, as that is how we came to Chicago for the first time last Thanksgiving. We met her in Lincoln, and followed up to her home in Chicagoland.
Monday was spent relaxing and shopping, and then yesterday marked the return to work.
Now, I am super excited about this weekend too; however, I am about to start blogging about my first year in Chicago. I wanted to get a holiday wrap-up in first though.
Oh, and in case you were wondering what I got. EVERYTHING! :) I got a Soldier Field Stadium for my Christmas Village, Wine Refrigerator, Lord of Rings Trilogy Blu-Ray Set, Mini-Muffin Pan, Chicago Bears accessories for winter, and so much more. I loved it all. I just hope everyone liked what I got them.
I know Kyle liked what he got. That is him in this picture holding his Harry Potter Boxed Set of the books. They were hard to find, but so glad I did. I think he really liked them.
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well.
