Chicago Artists Month show architects doing other things

Chicago architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “The mother art is architecture.” Out of this art are several offsprings of artistic expression that richly contribute to the vibrancy of communities. Architecture, along with its allied arts, feed off of each other’s creativity. The Chicago Women In Architecture (CWA) will showcase this multi-faceted artistry of its industry by way of a retrospective, Architects Doing Other Things (a.DOT).

The jury has selected 52 Chicago women architects/artists who richly represent diversity, which is characteristic of the city’s communities. “Each piece of work was unique, a true expression of the individual’s interpretation of their chosen subject matter and was a pleasure to view,” shares one member of the jury. Another commented, “I was very impressed with the level of technical skill, innovation, and expression of the various subject matters and art media. The artwork and the graciously donated space will complement each other quite well.”
