2013 Chicago Air Show with Herb Hunter: preview photos

The 2013 Chicago Air Show will have thousands of people  flocking to the lakefront today and tomorrow with their eyes peeled toward the sky. It is the 55th annual Chicago Air and Water Show, taking place this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. It's the largest free air and water show of its kind in the United States. The show can be viewed along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

For the last 26 years, Herb Hunter has been the announcer of the Chicago Air and Water Show. Known as the "Voice of the Air and Water Show", Herb utilizes his many years of experience as a military pilot and as the captain of a 747 for major airlines. Before he was the show announcer, Herb piloted the USAF KC-135 in the show for more than a decade. Herb calls the show from the Platform at the North Avenue Beach.

This year’s Air and Water Show will be a little bit different from previous because of government budget cuts, military planes and boats will not be participating. This years show performers will include six new corporate and civilian groups, including former military planes.
