Wells Street Bridge Opens for Brown Line Trains On Schedule

According to CTA spokespersons the first EL train will travel over the new construction of Wells Street Bridge at 4:30 A.M. Monday March 11, 2013. The nine day project to replace the southern half of the bridge completed just in time for the morning rush hour.

Wells Street Bridge Opens for Brown Line and Purple Express trains on Schedule. After nine days of reconstruction work. Mayor Rahm Emanuel marching orders to complete the project in just nine day were followed to the letter.

The top portion of the bridge for train traffic is open but not the bottom portion for auto traffic. Auto section of the bridge has been reportedly  scheduled for completion in November. Next month another nine day project begins on the northern section that holds the train tracks.

Workers were putting the final touches and repairs to switches on both the north and south sides of the bridge Sunday night.
