 Back of the Yards 2-11 Warehouse fire injures Chicago Firefighter

A 2-11 fire broke out at 4834 S. Halsted St. about  5:39 p.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood and was well under control and struck-out by 6:55 p.m. One firefighter was injured battling the fire and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the fire department said. The abandoned building used to make parade floats. A lot of  the debris inside was burning before Chicago Firefighter but out the blaze in the 4 story vacant warehouse contents fire .


A few weeks a ago about 2 miles away was the Ashland Ave warehouse fire that required 200 plus firefighters battling a blaze that lasted over a week before finally extinguished.

A cause for today's fire is still under investigation.
