On Saturday, June 16th, over 25 prospective home-buyers convened at the Austin 15th District Community Room of the Chicago Police Department to meet with HUD approved housing counseling agencies of the STABLE Project, a consortium of HUD approved housing counseling agencies, organized and facilitated by the Monroe Foundation, to enroll in home-ownerships and pre-purchase counseling sessions as they prepare to soon to discuss lending options with financial institutional partners of the Monroe Foundation, that includes PNC Bank and US Bank.
Rev. Dr. Lewis Flowers, chairman of the Westside Ministers Coalition, and one of the community partners that worked with the Monroe Foundation to organized this "Welcome Home" event, stated, "The Austin community is still a strong and growing community for residential and small business investment. Promoting what's good about this community, and not just its' challenges, is we, along with the Monroe Foundation, will continue to do".
HUD approved counseling partners of the STABLE Project that participated in the outreach event, include: Kingdom Community Inc., S & S Development Corporation, Nobel Neighbors, and Agora Community Service Corporation.
Otis C. Monroe, III, CEO of the Monroe Foundation, added, "We are thankful to PNC Bank and US Bank for investing in the concept of supporting a mobile consortium of HUD approved housing counseling agencies, and community advocates that can mobilize and partner with community stakeholders in communities across Illinois, to organize home ownership events that promotes the assets of communities. We are also thank you to Melody Spann Cooper and Pierre Cooper of WVON for assisting us with airtime for this event, Mark Allen of Black Wall-Street-Chicago for his advocacy, and voice-over of commercial Cliff Kelly for promotional "call-in", State Representative La Shawn K. Ford, and Chicago Police Superintendent Gerry McCarthy and the 15th District CAPS Office, Sargent, Glenn White, and the 15th District Commander, for providing use of the Community Room for this event".
