Statement from Interfaith Illinois after meeting with Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle on the County morgue issues
"We are confidant that President Preckwinkle's strategy as presented to us
during our meeting on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, will resolve the issues at the County Morgue,” said Bishop Dr. Claude Porter, Chairman of Interfaith Illinois.
“President Preckwinkle and her staff told us they are committed to not only right the wrongs within the Medical Examiners Office but to raise the managerial bar especially in the handling of the decease and their families.
The President’s commitment to resolve these matters was accepted by all attending that meeting.
"It is because of President Preckwinkle’s swift and comprehensive response that we are convinced that the welfare of the people of Cook County is a continued priority to her and we support that kind of stewardship from our elected officials," said Bishop Porter.
