Bio

Hi, I'm Jason. I'm supposed to introduce myself here and I
strangely feel like I'm filling out a profile for a dating site. Not. that. I
* cough *  have ever done that... (okay, I have, but it was purely for
ironic reasons I assure you.)

I'm an improviser in
Chicago and I say that with great pride. I moved here, as so many do, to learn
the artform in the world's greatest city for improv. That was (gulp) just under
fifteen years ago. During that time I have taken classes at iO and Second City
and with some of the greatest teachers the city has ever hosted (Del Close,
Mick Napier, Martin de Maat, Michael Gellman and many others.)
I spent/spend most of my time at the
ImprovOlympic, (now the "iO", you know... like the WB!) where I was the Director
of the Training Center for about 8 years. I produce and direct shows around the
city and I'm lucky enough to improvise in several at the moment. In fact you
should see all of them (see that attached show plugs).

In this
bloggy/column thing I'm going to wander around the world of Chicago Improv and
talk about the past (some of our famous alumni now working on the best TV shows
and movies), the present (events and happenings going on now, where to take
classes or see a great show), and the future (pre-famous people, trends and
predictions for improv.) I'm probably also going to be a bit
stream-of-consciousness and not edit or censor myself. Like a good improviser.

You can contact me directly at improvjason@gmail.com and please follow me on Twitter! I'm @ChiNowImprov.

Marion: How are you
going to get that truck?

Indiana: I don't
know. I'm making this up as I go.
