Ben Shapiro believes that determinism is disingenuous. Where does free will come from in a materialist world view? He mentions atheist Sam Harris’s ideas of morality, but Sam doesn’t believe in free will. Harris follows the ideology of hard determinism. Every thought you’ve ever had, every action you’ve ever made, could not have been anything different.
Not all atheists are determinists, and determinism isn’t for atheist only. There is theological determinism. Everything is part of God’s plan. You can’t do anything different than what is already determined by God. This would mean that Adam and Eve had no choice but to eat from the tree of knowledge. Or is God not all-knowing and all-powerful?
In the following video clip, I discuss free will following Ben Shapiro’s comments.
