Kuwait theocracy declares Islam is weak

“The less secure a man is, the more likely he is to have extreme prejudice.” – Clint Eastwood

Any belief that cannot withstand scrutiny isn’t worth having. Anyone who is secure in their beliefs does not run away from criticism, they welcome it. The Kuwaiti parliament has declared the so called omnipotent deity Allah unable to defend himself from cursing and criticism. They have declared Islam not defendable through rationality and argumentation. They’ve decided Islam is so weak that it can only be truly defended by fear. It is very clear that the Kuwaiti parliament is infested with cowards. Anyone who possesses the wits to recognize the fallacies of religion and the courage to speak the truth is to be imprisoned or executed per a new law that is currently pending approval by the Kuwaiti supreme leader.

It’s a shame when a con artist can’t be called out as a con artist. It’s a shame that women are oppressed because of nonsensical babbling of male chauvinistic primitives making claims of divine authority. If someone claimed to speak with god today they’d be put in a straitjacket. But if some arrogant thug made that claim over a thousand years ago then it must be true. After all, how would such eloquent and intelligent writings of cutting off hands of thieves and killing people who criticize insanity or have different pretend gods come to be unless it was guided by a perfect, loving, wise, merciful, and omnipotent deity? Of course this has to be the one true religion, isn’t it obvious? Don’t say no if you happen to be in Kuwait. Heaven forbid rationalists expose the man behind the curtain.

I hope that the free thinkers of Kuwait take to the streets and tell their parliament to take Sharia Law and shove it. I hope that they demand the same individual rights of free speech enjoyed by U.S. citizens per the First Amendment of the Constitution. But I doubt such bravery exists to the scale necessary to overturn the spreading plague of Islamic bigotry and madness. As the largest trading partner, The U.S. can influence policy and promote human rights. As the U.S. moves forward in greater public tolerance of gay marriage, Islamist theocracies move backwards promoting greater hatred, intolerance and suppression of individual liberties. To be tolerant of this intolerance would be cowardice indeed.

“I don't find any difference between Islam and Islamic fundamentalists. I believe religion is the root, and from the root fundamentalism grows as a poisonous stem. If we remove fundamentalism and keep religion, then one day or another fundamentalism will grow again. I need to say that because some liberals always defend Islam and blame fundamentalists for creating problems. But Islam itself oppresses women. Islam itself doesn't permit democracy and it violates human rights.” -- Taslima Nasrin
