One of my favorite ways to completely deny Chicago's betrayal of the Spring weather is to go shopping for clothing I would have no business wearing in the daily conditions this city keeps spewing out. As in, shorts, mini dresses, and sandals. And although I am currently on a shopping hiatus, I am attending the Thursday night VIP shopping event hosted by Chicago Magazine, Chicagoshopping.com, and Next Jump which is basically like me swearing off of chocolate and then showing up at Willy Wonka's to take a dip in his river.
The event combines three of Chicago's hottest shopping destinations--Michigan Avenue, Rush Street and Oak Street--into a hotbed of stylish deals, with many retailers--such as J. Crew, White House Black Market, Furla, Michael Kors, Vince, and several others--offering discounts up to 25%, free champagne, and appearances by Maria Pinto at Mark Shale and Chicago magazine Fashion Director Stacey Jones at Vince. Get your cold little self over to their website and stock up on warm-weather items which (crossing my fingers and toes!) we can break out come May. Sign up here for your exclusive invitation--reservations are limited. The event runs from 5 to 9 pm and as a bonus, the 900 shops at Michigan Avenue are offering $6 parking (instead of $20!).
