For years, men have monopolized the outrageous wedding comedy category with movies like Wedding Crashers, Bachelor Party, and The Hangover. Female-targeted movies tended to stay in the romantic safe-laugh area, ranging from the somewhat endearing 27 Dresses to the absolutely skippable Monster-in-Law. Leave it to the funniest gal on TV on Saturday night to shake things up. This May, Kristen Wiig (one of my chosen celebrity bridesmaids!), along with Maya Rudolph, Ellie Kemper (Erin from The Office), and a host of other sharp leading ladies will star in The Bridesmaids, a film following the endlessly comical view of a wedding from the perspective of a clueless bridesmaid. Best of all, it comes from Judd Apatow (of Knocked Up, 40-Year-Old Version, Anchorman and Superbad fame), and is co-written by Wiig herself. And did I mention Jon Hamm is in it? Yum. Below, check out the trailer, and to tide us over until May, some of my favorite Kristen Wiig moments from SNL. What do you think, friends? Will you be seeing Bridesmaids in May?
