My boyfriend and I have made it an annual tradition to visit Bristol Renaissance Faire in Kenosha, WI. I'd actually never been to a Ren Faire before we started dating. It has definitely become one of the highlights of the year.
This year, we actually met up with his sister, and some of our friends. For a few of them it was their first time coming to Bristol, and they were overwhelmed with the scale of the faire. There are actual buildings (not just tents that are set up once a year), elephants, various stages, jousting, petting zoos, scavenger hunts, live demonstrations, and lots and lots of vendors.
It was awesome going to the faire in a group! I tried archery for the first time in my life, and I rock at it! My boyfriend and his sister actually did the knife, and axe throwing (there was no way I was trying that). That sort of hardcore behavior made them pirates in my book.
The Ren Faire is definitely a fun place for kids and adults of all ages. They have special activities that are just for kids, and the parents won't be bored either. I do recommend coming in costume. It's just more fun that way.
I didn't have my actual camera, so you all get to relive the faire through the eyes of my Blackberry camera! Hazzah!!!
