I'd like to warn all my readers that the next several months will be pretty interesting for me...the final season of Smallville starts next week, and I'm filled with mixed emotions right now. I've talked about Smallville plenty of times on this blog, and I'm very attached to this show.
This summer I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Jonathan Kent himself, John Schneider. It was like a dream come true. The man was just so sweet and so gracious, and he encouraged me to follow my dreams and keep up the blogging. John mentioned that some of the writing that we'll see in season 10 is some of the best dialogue he's ever had on the show. I expect to be in tears next week for the season premiere.
I know a lot of people have had a falling out with Smallville. Some might say that this show has been on television for far too long. Some fans are annoyed that it differs from the comics, and Clark should be flying and wearing tights! I mean, he's Superman right?
Those fans don't understand what this show is about. This isn't a show about Superman. It's a show about the man that becomes Superman. I think the writers have done an amazing job of showing us who Clark Kent really is. We've seen all the people Clark has encountered throughout his life; and we've seen the events that have shaped him into becoming the hero that we all know and idolize.
It's going to be bittersweet to say goodbye to a show that's been apart of my life for a decade. But, I have 22 new episodes to look forward to and savor.
