C2E2 Celebrity Interview of My Dreams

Well, C2E2 is less than a week away, and I'm excited. Although I've been working in TV longer than I've been going to conventions, I've never attempted to get press access to any of these events until now. I guess it's because I always use vacation time to go to cons, and no one wants to work on their vacation. This blog has given me an opportunity to have a voice and share my love of this hobby with people who may not have known what the word "cosplay" means. So, I'm very excited to get this opportunity to cover this new convention.

Looking through the long guest list of celebrities, writers, and artists is a bit overwhelming. I'm trying to gather my thoughts, and think of awesome questions to ask. I'm not going to talk to every single person, of course. I've met Ray Park several times at conventions and outside of them. I think it would be wonderful to get an actual interview with him (who knows, maybe he'll recognize me). Alex Ross, the guest of honor, is such an iconic artist; I would love to talk to him as well. I absolutely want to grill Geoff Johns on any upcoming Smallville episodes he might be working on. Some of the actors from Kick-Ass will be attending as well. If I spot any of them, I'll try to snap a picture or get a quote.

Although a lot of awesome people will be at C2E2, there are three that I'm truely huge fans of. The top three celebrity interviews that I would love to get are:

3. Kevin Michael Richardson

Richardson is an amazing voice actor with a long list of characters, including Joker from The Batman series (a role that won him an Emmy nomination). He also voiced characters for The Boondocks, Teen Titans, Family Guy, Kim Possible, and the list goes on. I'll have to admit that my favorite character of his is Captain Gantu from Lilo & Stitch.

2. Kevin Conroy

Kevin Conroy IS Batman...period! Conroy has been voicing Batman for 18 years, starting with Batman the Animated Series in 1992. Since then he's been the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne in numerous animated television series, feature films, and video games. He was actually my number one pick, until the Star Wars guests were announced.

1. Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher is nearly tied with Kevin Conroy on the celebs I want to interview list. She will forever be known as Princess Leia. Carrie Fisher is a sci-fi icon, and it would be an honor to meet her and ask her a few questions.

Well, just a few more days until the moment of truth. Who are you all excited to see? I ask all my readers to check out the C2E2 guest list, and if you have any questions you want me to ask one of the guests please comment here or email me at nashnova@ymail.com. I'll see what I can do.

  • I can't wait for this con, it's going to be so much fun... I'd really like to see any of these people.

  • I'm looking forward to the convention! I totally agree with you on Kevin Michael Richardson, though my favourite role of his is Antauri from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! I may need to dig up my SRMTHG toys if he's gonna be there. My Foot Crusher Cruiser toy is signed by Kari Wahlgren, from my first year at Acen. :)

If you interview Alex, say hi for me! :D I've been a big fan of his work for years, thanks to my friend and neighbor Mark who introduced me to Alex's work (Mark was his model for the reporter in Marvels). Every time I see something Alex painted I am just absolutely blown away! I would love the opportunity to just talk to Alex but he's such a big star now it's never possible.

Carrie Fisher would be so so so awesome! One of these days I *really* need to get off my butt and make that Princess Leia costume (the fabric has been sitting in my drawer for years).

The only other guests that, for me, could top your list (all of whom I'd love to talk to), are Steve Gonzales and Dave Tango from Ghost Hunters and of course, Neil Gaiman! (of course I'd be spending the whole time geeking out about Doctor Who with Neil ;)

Anyway, I hope I get a chance to visit with you at C2E2, I never get a chance to see you lately :) I'll be there all day Friday, starting from 10 am with the professional hours (librarians FTW!)

I can't wait to see you! It's been a while (Chicago Tardis was it?). I'm super excited to see how big C2E2 is going to be. I'm not sure what time I'm getting there Friday, I have to pick up my press badge somewhere though. I'm dreading the downtown traffic :(
