Miss Piggy Goes "Gaga" for Next Muppet Movie

Word on the street is that "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel, is working on the next Muppet Movie. I've yet to track down the actually title of this film, but my searches have come up with either "The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made" or "The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made." A source told HollywoodLife.com that Miss Piggy's character is heavily inspired by Lady Gaga.

The plot of this film is said to involve the Muppets losing their historic theater, and they will have to rally together a star-studded telethon to save their theater. Kermit ends up being "destitute and the main characters find him living in squalor," the source said.

This definitely sounds like a "modern" take on the Muppets. As a
long time fan, I'm interested to see how this comes along. Since Disney
has owned the Muppets, they have yet to shell out a hugely popular
movie. I do hope they stay true to the classic Muppet movie formula of
celebrity cameos and catchy songs!

  • Wow... it HAS been a while since there was a muppet movie... I hope it's done well, and not driven into the ground. I think the plot seems appropriate considering how long it's been since they've done anything.

I haven't really watched any of the newer Muppet movies. I remember when the Muppet Wizard of Oz came out (think it was a made for TV/direct to DVD kind of things), I never saw it though. The Muppets take Manhattan is still my favorite!
