London or BUST: 2012 Olympics Introspective – Day 17
Provided by the BBC

Today's a sad day, but a memorable one. It is officially the LAST post that I will be writing by the London Olympics. It has been an amazing 16 days of competition. There were many moments of true athleticism and sportsmanship. Team USA did amazing during these games and brought home a total of 104 medals over China and Russia. The people of London did an amazing job even though a certain politician had his doubts during the games before they even started.

During the last day of competition, Team USA brought home in Men's Basketball after their win against Spain with a final score of 107-100. It was a very close and tightly contested match.   They played very well during the Olympics. I expect to see a few players returning for 2016.

I would like to congratulate Meb Keflezighi on a fantastic 4th place finish in the Men's Marathon. He put an amazing effort this morning against the Medal finishers. He went from 10th to 4th place within a short distance. Unfortunately the other runners, Ryan Hall and Abdi Abdirahman were unable to finish the race due to various injuries. I am sure that it was difficult to train for this event and not be able to finish.  I hope to see both of them back in 2016 stronger than ever.

I would also would like to congratulate Jake Varner for winning the Gold Medal in 96-kilogram Freestyle Wrestling. He performed very well during the event. He had very tough Ukrainian opponent that he had to compete against.

Well, that's all that I have to cover for the Olympics. I hope you enjoyed this series.

Until next time...
