Team USA really cleaned up and shined at the medals board today with a total of 11 medals in all. Way to go, TEAM USA!

First of all, if didn’t see it on the morning shows or on the news, the media along with her teammates really tore up Lolo Jones after she finished in 4th place in the 400-meter hurdles.  I would like to say that find their behavior to be very distasteful and unprofessional. It is bad enough that Lolo is psychologically and mentally dealing with the heartache of not finish the top 3, but to have the media and her teammates to rub salt into her wounds is just HORRIBLE. People just need to learn to grow up and choose their words wisely. I do believe that the media put way too much mental pressure for Lolo to succeed in a 2 minute race and place her in a spot where she didn’t need to be.

Beach Volleyball

I would like to congratulate Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings on their awesome Gold medal 3-peat today against the other Team USA pair.  Everyone was a winner no matter what and either pair guaranteed a Gold medal for Team USA.  Kerri and Misty played their hearts out every time I watched them during their matches.

Track and Field

Most of the medals awarded today were in Track and Field.  In the 110-meter hurdles, Aries Merritt took home the Gold medal while Jason Richardson took home the Silver medal. In the Long Jump, Brittany Reese took home the Gold medal while Janay DeLoach brought home the Bronze medal.  In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, Lashinda Demus brought home the Silver medals after her failed attempt in Athens.  In the Women’s 200-meter Dash, Allyson Felix took home the Gold medal while Carmelita Jeter took home the Bronze medal.

Every one of these athletes had an outstanding performance during their individual events. It has been a very exciting Olympics by far. I am looking forward to move events in the rest of the week.

Men’s Basketball

The Dream Team continued to outplay their opponents during the quarterfinal game against Australia. The final score 119-86 showed how well they continue to play. They are only two games away from earning another Gold medal. They need to continue playing well to get that far.

Well, that’s all for tonight. There are more exciting matches set for tomorrow.

Until then...
