Welcome to the Summer of No F***s Given.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I’m turning the grand 28. Good news: I survived 27, which seems to be the magical number when most people eat it. Ex. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Sure, they were taking all the drugs in the world, while I was taking zero, but...whatever...details.
What is the Summer of No F***s Given, you ask? It is whatever you want it to be. The rules are your rules. Do whatever you want to do and just don’t care about it. Most of all, let’s just take as many risks as we can. Push your boundaries. Open your eyes. See how far you can go. There are no limits. There are no fears. Are you ready? I am.
Here's the deal: most things don't hurt as much as you think they will. Heartache sucks, but you get over it. Rejection blows, but you'll always feel better for trying. You can't create something better unless you experiment. You can't live your life afraid of "what if." You have to live it excited about the "what will."
I’ve already made plans to skydive and run a Warrior Dash. In addition to pushing my body, I’m trying to be bolder. Take the chances when I see them. Having romances. Observing my surroundings. Interacting at every step along the way.
I’ve pulled together a little soundtrack for this summer on Spotify. The requirement was: “Can I picture myself cliff diving, motorcycling or stage jumping to this song?” I’ll be adding new anthems along the way, but this will get the season kicked off right. Since I can't link to it on this blog, I'll be posting it up on Twitter and Facebook. Or you can search for it: Summer of No F's Given by yours truly.
Take the risks. Keep all the f***s. Summer better be wearing a cup.
