Summer Festival: Wine Riot

( This is what happens when you do random image searches. "Hello, my name is Javier. I am drinking this wine and gazing longingly at you while I step out of the shadows and mist."

As you may recall, I spent my summer of 2009 running around Chicago (my longest lover) through 50 summer festivals.  Some weekends even included 8 - 13 festivals to traipse across in just two days.

I'm going to be bringing that back this year.  Maybe not 50, but definitely the best ones.  If anyone is qualified to talk about the best Chicago festivals, it's this girl!  I've earned that Golden Corndog!

Tomorrow, I'm kicking off the season with Wine Riot at Union Station.  This event is new to me, but looks like a ton of fun.  Imagine four hours of tasting over 250 wines, crash course wine seminars and photo booths, complete with props.  Food is a little extra, but (let's be honest) who's really going there to eat.

They sell tickets in two groups: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.  I'm headed to the earlier bucket, so that I can have a little more elbow room.

A couple reasons to go:

  • Patti Stanger of Millionaire Matchmaker (yes, this quote is about to happen) says that wine tastings are where the millionaires hang out.
  • The festival is put on by SecondGlass, owned and operated by a handful of people all under 30 who just want everyone
    to drink more wine.

See you there?
