Facebook won't make you look at your ex anymore

This is awesome.  Mashable reports that Facebook has updated its Photo Memories algorithm to no longer include images where people you have formerly declared a facebook relationship with are tagged.  Yes, that lovely little box was originally intending to remind you of fun memories...unfortunately, that included the happy times you once shared with your former flame.  The last thing you need on a lonely weekend is a picture of you and your love smiling away.

Of course, the rest of the digital break up is your responsibility, but at least Mark Zuckerberg is trying to make it easier.

  • The problem with that is I didn't have a Facebook page when I was dating my ex. I'm also cool with my ex. so I guess it doesn't even matter that much.

If it was long enough ago as to be "pre-Facebook", you definitely should be cool with that person by now, lol. I think most of us are generally okay with our exes as people, it's just the unexpected reminding of a happy memory that you had with that person. We all know that romantic history is seen through rose-colored glasses.

A lot of people get that drop in their stomache when they see something that reminds them of their ex---especially if the break up was bad or if you really miss them. I guess it's pretty cool that Facebook is trying to prevent that from happening. It's sad that a lot of women/men aren't strong enough after a break up to see pictures of their ex. It's nice that facebook has a soft spot for those women/men.
