In honor of November being National Adoption Month, ChicagoNow blogger Carrie Goldman of Portrait of an Adoption is running a special series called "30 Adoption Portraits in 30 Days." Today, she's featuring my family's story, An Adoption Postcard From My Side of the Edge.
As Carrie so eloquently puts it, the series is:
Designed to give a voice to the many different perspectives of adoption, this series will feature guest posts by adoptees, birthparents, adoptive parents, waiting adoptive parents, and foster parents-turned-adoptive parents. Painful and beautiful, these stories will bring you a deeper understanding of what adoption looks like, allowing you to appreciate the many brushstrokes that comprise a family portrait.
If you check it out (just click on the title of this post to link to it), at the very least, you'll get to see our Christmas card photo from 2009. The one useuable shot of the 149 I took. I know! But seriously, as I read all of the amazing stories she's posted this month, I've been moved to tears by most of them. It's a wonderful series calling attention to the wonderful process of growing a family through adoption. Thanks, Carrie!
